  • The name was chosen for several reasons.

  • 1. A name was desired that reflected a real place, yet lent itself to a fairytale feel. The spelling is derived from the old english spelling.

  • 2. The names of some of the most respected and successful festivals in the country go by names that represent a real place, historical event or a feeling rather than a region in the U.S.A.

  • 3. Since Newbourne Village Renaissance Festival is not the first festival to ever take place on the grounds, a name needed to be chosen that would distinctly differentiate us from the former fairs. Also it's been over a decade since a festival was on the grounds and we feel that we are like the phoenix - a festival born anew.

  • 4. The word Renaissance means "Rebirth". It was a celebration of life and all that was best in humanity. So, "Newbourne" or "New Born" is a play on that.

The NVRF participant will not release the child to anyone unless the child/parent can identify one another.
